Pink Sniper Strikes

So I took Joanie shopping last week and Claire was in the shopping cart wearing an ivory outfit with a blue blanket covering her feet. And this pack of women came over and asked how old our little boy was. Phooey.

Carter Turns Two

It's hard to believe Carter is only two, he is such a big boy. He picked up a lot of new words in August, and now he talks in long sentences. We're not always sure what he's saying, but he is incredibly earnest. A couple of his toddler friends came over the other day for some cake that Carter thought had a distinct Blues' Clues look. Madeleine's blue frosting may have tipped him off.

Night of the Living Dead

Claire gets up every few hours to eat, and our sleep is not what it used to be. I sort of forgot about this part. Here she is at one week old.

One day old

Claire has figured out nursing — Joanie says she feels like a staple gun. (I thought that was too good a simile to not post.) She's already cuter today! And she has dark hair, unlike our other kids, who started out blonde. Heck, she even has hair; we've basically never seen this before. At the top of her head it sticks up into a little point — so cute.

Claire Elizabeth Grandon

Claire Elizabeth was born today, September 8, 2006 at 12:57 p.m. She is 9 lbs. 5 oz. and 20.5 inches. She's really beautiful, has great lungs, and is already pretty alert. Joanie is doing great, and I'm even starting to feel better, too.

School starts today

We got the kids off to the bus and they're on their way. Joanie reports all things quiet on the home front.
