We drove up into the hills above Honolulu to hike up to Manoa Falls. Our guidebook said it is not a strenuous trail, suitable for older folks, but we found a few pretty steep spots. Are we even older than what they consider old?
To get up to the falls you cross through this amazing jungle, almost rainforest. The sky was overcast but we were lucky the rain held off — it was already muddy in a couple spots. It sounded like the jungle too: the birds' chirping would echo through the forest canopy and there was a babbling creek alongside the trail.
There was not a lot of water coming over the falls when we got to the top, though the 150 foot drop was impressive.
