Hourglass

Ceiling and skylights over the terminal junction at Orlando International Airport.

This photo was a challenge, it took a while to figure out how to make it look like something to post. The ceiling came out brightly colored and garish — like many things you see in Florida.

Often the answer is try black and white to emphasize form, but that only got me partway there. A happy accident while experimenting in Photoshop suddenly made the center section go almost black, and I said 'wow' out loud. That's what I was looking for.

So why didn't they paint it that color in the first place? (Because then it would be a building in Europe.)
